Malcolm Gladwell – The Tipping Point
I just finished reading Malcolm Gladwell’s The Tipping Point. It was a great book with some interesting case studies.
I’d actually heard of his book (and of Outliers, which I will be reading soon) several times before and I’d read his email conversation with The Sports Guy several times (about the only time I can sit through the NBA talk). I hadn’t gotten around to actually picking up the book until my sister in-law and her husband gave me the book for Christmas. He jokingly said,” so will you finish that in a week?” I laughed and said probably not. That comment however was probably my tipping point. I’d been wanting to read it, it was a Christmas gift and I’d been struggling through ‘Lord of the Flies’ for a couple weeks. Those three threes were the little incidents that contributed to my epidemic
I think Gladwell could use this example in his next afterword because I read it in about 10 days!
The book was really good and insighteful. The only problem I’m having now is trying to put that research to work for me. Trying to find my tipping points…not so easy!
I highly recomend this book to anyone who is interested. ‘Outliers’ is on my list but first I have to read Seth Godin’s Linchpin. I just got my pre-release copy from Seth courtesy of the Acumen Fund.
